South LA shooting leads to, chase, crash, arrests

LOS ANGELES — A vehicle crashed this morning after its driver fled the scene of a car-to-car shooting that wounded two people in South Los Angeles, police said.

Officers witnessed the shooting, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the area of 51st and Hoover streets, and launched a pursuit of one of the cars, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police chased the car to the area of 67th Street and Broadway where it crashed, said LAPD Officer Irma Mota, and five people who were in the vehicle were taken into custody.

The shooting victims were taken to hospitals but their conditions were not immediately reported.
